I’ve been talking so much about bad behavior — like dudes that throw women under the bus and blame them for their terrible behavioral infractions. (“It was her fault, not mine!”) Yeah, um, hiding behind skirts = not sexy. Gary Cooper wouldn’t have pulled that nonsense — that I’m forgetting to put energy toward the good behavior that actually does happen every day. I have great respect for The Buddha but sometimes you gotta just slap the annoying, biting fly that’s been buzzing around your head. You don’t have to kill it — just wound it enough to knock its flight pattern out of trajectory. That’s all I’m sayin…
Anyway, as I was driving into the office the cops stopped traffic for a funeral. And across the street, a guy walking along in the rain stopped walking, took off his hat and stood there in the rain out of respect for about 5 or 6 minutes as the procession passed.
That, my friends, is good behavior.
So, as the government prepares to shut itself down — man, wouldn’t it be nice to just take your ball and go home because Jimbob Quaker in the next cubicle won’t share his post-it notes? — I’m just going to let you read about raw bacon, give you another SSP, show you that some stories have a happy ending and I would love to adopt Patrick, and offer a wonderful little sound byte from a movie of my youth. Because it condenses a conversation I had the other day into its most irreducible form. Also, it makes me laugh my a** off.
And because I wore my Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals concert shirt to work today, some appropriate Friday music.
